Le Bon's ex-girlfriend Fiona Kemp (a barmaid at the Rum Runner nightclub where Duran Duran was rehearsing) introduced him to the band in May of 1980, recommending him as a potential vocalist. The band had a powerful pop sound flavored with disco, funk, and electronics, built on a solid rock rhythm section, and all they needed was a charismatic singer with a distinctive voice. The band had been through a long succession of lineup changes since Duffy's departure, but had recently settled on a guitarist and drummer. The family origin is said to be of Huguenot (an ethnoreligious group of French Protestants) descent (Source), perhaps linked with Henry IV "le Bon roi" (Info). Le Bon originates from the Latin word "bonus" meaning good, and in French the name 'Le Bon' means "The Good". He has two younger brothers, David and Jonathan. Even though he got into an accident in 1985, he went back to racing again soon after.Simon was the first-born son of John and Ann-Marie Le Bon. Le Bon is known for being active in the yacht racing scene, having owned a maxi yacht he called Drum. His wife has also been involved in founding S.Y.N. The couple has had three daughters, and eventually grandchildren since 2018. Le Bon has been married to English model Yasmin Parvaneh since 1985. Le Bon is now hosting the Duran Duran radio show “WHOOOSH!” with Katy Krassner, which airs on SiriusXM and can also be found on Spotify. Le Bon formed a Duran Duran sub-group called Arcadia in 1985, with a debut (and only) album “So Red The Rose.” The single ‘Election Day’ charted in the U.K. Not long after that, Duran Duran released their second album “Rio” in 1982, “Seven and the Ragged Tiger” in 1983, and “Arena” in 1984. Venturing into art when he was very young, Le Bon was trained as an actor and became an active member of the local church choir. He is the eldest of three children, with brothers David and Jonathan. He was born Simon John Charles Le Bon on October 27, 1958, in Hertfordshire, England. His time with the band Duran Duran has earned him worldwide success and recognition.
